This could not be easier. Keep a bowl around the kitchen to collect older bread scraps, ends, and leftover rolls that may not have been eaten in time. Chop, season, and bake to create your own croutons in whatever variety you like!
I start with my 3-7 day old breads that I left sitting out in a bowl to dry. Chop into crouton-sized pieces, and place into a bowl.
I also save the bread crumbs created during the chopping process to use in meatballs and meatloaf.
Toss the pieces of bread in a good layer of olive oil, then add seasonings. I use Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Other variations might include red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese, or basil.
Bake at 350 for 10 min or until desired browning. Bag and serve!
